| Animal Diversity is a 3-unit general zoology course emphasizing the variety of structures, functions and adaptations of protozoa and animals. Animal Diversity (Zoology 122) combined with the 1-unit Animal Diversity Laboratory (Zoology 123) satisfies the SBCC General Education Requirement in Natural Sciences and transfers to all UC and California State University campuses where they also will satisfy a general education requirement for a life science laboratory course. Animal Diversity lecture alone satisfies the UC/CSU general education (IGETC) requirement for a life science lecture course. Enroll in Zoology 122 Animal Diversity at Santa Barbara City College. See the list of other on-line courses produced by Saturdaze and offered at SBCC. In-class and on-line lectures are supported by an on-line textbook, written especially for this course and illustrated with exceptional graphics, artwork and photographs by the author/instructor of the course and professional illustrators, all former students. Lectures are offered both on campus and on-line. On-line and in-class lectures cover the same content. On-line education provides the freedom from "time and place" . . . and parking. In addition, the on-line lectures are easily reviewed and available 24/7 from the date they are delivered. In-class lectures provide a more social interaction with the instructor and your student colleagues. Some students prefer on-line, others prefer in-class. Certainly, those students in different, cities, states, or countries benefit from the on-line offering.
The On-line Textbook is Navigated via a Header Bar with Links to Sections and Chapters Clicking on a title on the header bar will cause the introductory page for that section to be displayed. Each section contains chapters arranged phylogenetically. Choosing one of the animal groups, for example, Echinodermata, will then cause that chapter to be displayed. ![]() The On-line Textbook is Richly Illustrated Within the chapters are illustrations that are better than can be drawn on a chalkboard and that are larger and more numerous than can be found in costly printed textbooks. An on-line textbook has the added advantage that, unlike printed textbooks, the pages can include videos, animations and "mouseovers" to make the subject matter come alive. ![]()
